If you’re thinking about losing weight or just getting back into shape, your first step is to set clear goals. First you will need to determine your healthy weight goal by obtaining you (BMI). The Body Mass Index (BMI) is the medical standard for determining a person’s healthy weight. 

Underweight = Less than 18.5
Normal weight = 18.5 - 24.9  
Overweight = 25 - 29.9                            
Obese = Greater than 30

What does my BMI mean?
Knowing what your BMI or Body Mass Index is helps you to instantly gain an understanding of your body shape. Using this information you can now set about setting goals more targeted to your needs.

If your BMI is below 20:
This indicates that your overall amount of body fat is low. This is the body shape of most athletes. If you’re not an athlete, a lean body shape can indicate that your weight may be a little too low, lowering your immunity. You should consider gaining weight through good nutrition and exercise, increasing your muscle mass.

If your BMI is between 20 and 22:
Indicating that you have an ideal and healthy amount of body fat. A BMI calculator score between 20 -22 is associated with long living, and the lowest incidence of serious illness. It is also generally perceived to be the most attractive.

If you BMI is between 22 and 25:
It is Considered to be an acceptable range and in good health.

If your BMI is between 25 and 30:
BMI between 25 and 30 is considered over weight. Find ways to lower your weight, through diet and exercise.

If your BMI is over 30:
BMI over 30 is Considered obese and unhealthy and at risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancers. You should reduce your body fat by changing your diet and exercising more.
